Watching the show I knew it would be close between Mondo and Gretchen. Yes, In the begining of the show I was bias because Gretchen was from Portland Oregon and it's always a great feeling to see a fellow Oregonian on television. But sadly I was let down by her lack of inspiration. I believe she is a great designer, but I also believe that if you walked into an Urban Outfitters you would see clothes that are very similar. To me, a new designer needs to bring NEW ideas to the stage. They need you to want to change your style. To fit their clothes into what makes your personality. To me Mondo brought the A-game to Project Runway.
Here are some photos that I liked of both Gretchen and Mondo. I'll explain why. If you'd like to view the show http://notes-on-fashion.blogspot.com/2010/09/project-runway-season-8-finale-spring.html has pictures of all the designers.
MONDO'S

Left: As this look walked onto the runway I couldn't stop saying how I wanted these tights. They way Mondo can put two patterns together is art. As told from a young age I've always shied away from mixing prints. I thought it was a No-No. But Mondo has turned this into a Yes-Yes. This look is beautiful, from the colors in the scull to the clean feeling of the nude fabric then a dash of "Mondo" into the tights.

Right: Micheal Kors had a point. There is no skin in this dress. But was lost. We all know the low cut back on a dress makes it a sexier look and Mondo used this for the dress. He created a design that covered a woman's body and still made her gorgeous. No skin was needed.

Left: This outfit I want to slip on and put some tights under and just lounge around in. Yet doing that I know that I'd still look good while eating potato chips and watching TV.

Right: This top is may favorite. it bright the
color into a darker outfit in a happy feeling. Mondo took an outfit that could look dark and created a magnificent cute look.
*I want to add that I do see how the judges could take Mondo's designs as more of a "teenager" look, but many of the looks in the line could be taken and put into a work outfit.*
GRETCHEN'S

Left: This look is gorgeous. I love the shine of the pants, the high waist and the clean feel of this outfit. Looking at this piece not up against Mondo it's graceful. But once I take a glance at Mondo's designs this beautiful outfit by Gretchen has hit a snooze button.

Right: For a light fabric used in this dress I am extremely impressed by the collar of this dress. I've tried to do designs like this and to find a balance in the fabric to make it not fall over is a very hard thing to do. But yes this pattern and the other patterns used by Gretchen made it seem like it was on repeat.
Gawker shares the same feeling I have with this season of project runway if you'd like to read that too.

In all I believe the judges clearly let a good designer get away. A pattern God is what I can state about Mondo.
Please take a look at the blog I posted of the fashion designers and take a look at Micheal C.'s line. I think his dresses were exquisite. The way all his dresses flow I would wear all of them. I believe he deserves to have been in the top 3. Micheal really has a talent with fabric, even if he may not know the names of them. He knows what they're used for.
Please do tell me how you felt about this season of Project Runway. If you agree, or if you disagree with my opinion. I'd love to here your view. Yes, there must be people out there who believe Gretchen deserved to win. People who loved her clothes as much as I loved Mondo's and I'd really like to here that. Not to argue, but to discuss your views on this.
Also if you take a look at Micheal C.'s please comment about that too.
